Wild About The Wychwoods is a new nature initiative covering the Wychwoods villages and surrounds. We don’t just want to raise awareness of where nature needs our help (and it most certainly does), we want to highlight things that every one of us, young or old, can do to help.
Often these will be simple actions or changes we can make without even leaving the comfort of our own homes and gardens! We believe that if every one of us does ‘just one thing’, then collectively we can really start to make a difference.
We have talks and events throughout the year which are inspiring and fun, as well as informative. They're free, everybody’s welcome and we’d particularly love to get younger people coming along. We’ll also be taking our projects into local schools to encourage the next generation to learn to love nature and want to care for it.
Get on our mailing list by emailing us at info@wildaboutthewychwoods.co.uk to keep up to date with what’s happening or go to our Events page.
Helping nature on the doorstep!
We're focusing on just 4 projects to start with. Click on the photo to find out more . . .
Find out what you can do to help our declining hedgehog population, from putting out food and water, to creating Hedgehog Highways connecting gardens in your local community. Click here
Help our declining swift population by installing a swift box (or two) on a suitable wall of your home/school/office. They'll reward you with an amazing aerial display every summer. Click here
Sow wildflower seeds in an area of your garden or the verge outside your home. Or just leave a patch to grow wild for the summer. Big or small, this will feed bees and other pollinators as well as providing shelter for small animals. Click here
Our local river, the Evenlode, is designated ‘poor ecological status’. Citizen Scientists learn how to monitor the river water and feed back scientific data, but there’s also a lot we can all do to help by making small changes at home. Click here
Our Sponsors
We're very grateful to our sponsors for their support which allows us to make our talks free to everyone and to take our projects into our local schools.
If you or your company would like to discuss sponsoring us or donating, we'd love to hear from you!
